We wee told to take pictures of 6 different genre's of objects and produce them for later marking.
Close up
This is the shot i chose for my close up, it consists of a bottle and stickers. I laced a sticker over the original label, and placed them to make it look as if the stickers had poured out the bottle like liquid. The only thing id change is the way the stickers are coming out the bottle itself. other than this i like the shot.
Mini set build
This was what i chose for a mini set build, i chose this because it plainly shows things that are to do with me such as; Steampunk goggles, Tattoo appointment cards, weights, a small figurine from a comic book, Stickers from a clothing company regularly buy from and my student card. If i could change something about it i would change the focus to the figurine, Other than this i think its a good shot.
Highly Reflective
This image was used for the highly reflective genre of the brief. It is simply a hip flask placed on a miniature with a single light facing the front. A Standard 18-55mm zoom lens was used and the shot was taken in black and white.
Historical
This image was chosen for the Historical genre of the brief we were told that it needed a back story so due to it being a present i gave it my own and explained some history. The shot was shot with a black cloth backdrop with a single light with a snoot aimed from the back to the front so you can see the back outline and used a mirror to reflect the light onto the front of the statue.
Commercial
This image was my chosen picture for commercial. It involves my Canon1000D and my Obey laptop case. I had a lamp with a honeycomb cover set behind the camera to cast the shadow you can see, and used a mirror to reflect some of the light back onto the front of the camera so that the logo's were visible. A 50mm fixed lens was used to create the gradual fade from front to back.
9th-Nov-2011
This week we were told to take our own pictures of a object given to us by our teacher which is lit differently from how he set it up, like so:
So i decided to have the lighting so that there was one lamp with a snoot directly above it, and one with a normal shade underneath the miniature curve, and this picture is the result:
The rest of the "inbetween" pictures which were taken before getting to the final result are these:
This image was the closest to the finished image other than the actual finished image.
2nd-Nov-2011
Today we learnt about "Lighting Ratio" and what it can do to your pictures.
We went through different styles oflighting such as copy lighting, and 45/45 angling lighting.
The different types of ratio lighting are :
1:1 (both lamps at full power)
1:2 (one lamp full power, the other half power)
1:4 (one lamp full, the other quarter)
1:8 (one lamp full, the other an eighth the power)
1:16 (one full, the other a sixteenth the power)
We also got told that with each ratio, the higher the ratio your Fstop goes up by one, and how each different ratio will effect your picture.
Examples
F22 F22
1/500 1/125
As it is shown above, 1/500 is too fast a shutter speed because the majority of the subject is is black, which is the shutter itself being captured. So we decided to lower the shutter speed to 1/125 which you can see is a much better speed because it is slow enough to le the right amount of light in and fast enough to capture a near inanimate subject.
The rest of the pictures of which are shown below are the different ratio's step by step to show how it effects the picture with each step of ratio.

Object of our choice
This shot was from an object brief, this is, in my opinion, the better of the images shot.
It was shot at a downward angle with the focus aimed at the writing on the front of the flask
making the lid and everything but, blurry. It was shot at 1/20 at an F4.5 Aperture, turned
Black and White to go with the colours of the flask itself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This image is from our first object brief given to take different pictures of am aftershave bottle in different styles of light.
Natural Light
This image was shot in natural light, at the top of a car park over looking the town centre.
It was shot at 1/125 with a F8.0 Aperture, using a 18-55mm zoom lens. I changed it to
Black and White because i felt it looked better than colour.
Flash
This image was shot in the studio with flash lighting from my camera, it was placed on
the miniature curve table, lead down and shot at an angle from below looking up.
It was shot at F5.0 at 1/125, using a standard 18-55mm zoom lens on manual.
It was shot in the more portraiture style because it suited the shape of the bottle most.
Studio Light
This image was taken, again, on the miniature curve but with a single studio light at 1/60 with an F5.0 Aperture. It was taken at a downward angle because i felt it looked better for the shape of the bottle. i changed it to Black and White because it looked better due to the colour given off by the lamp itself.
