Culture is simply a reflection of the society in which it is made
If we want to understand a group of people we must look at their culture.

Cave art
The earliest discovered cave art dates back roughly 30,000 years ago. they where made using the colours black and yellow, ochre, hematite, magnese oxidise and cole

This kind of cave painting is said to be one of the first made and the most simple because it was made by placing a hand on the wall and putting their version of paint over their hand and leaving the space where the hand is blanks showing the outline.

This and the image below were said to be the first full body portraiture painting of people by cave men and they showed various different thing such as ways of hunting and even stories of hunting and how the people lived and loved back then.

Anthropomorphic
This style of art was said to be mainly legends and tales of people who  were either part animal or had animalistic features or even the other way round were animals had human like features.
Alot of these kinds of things are mainly known with Egyptian history including:

Anubis the god mainly associated with the afterlife and mummification, who had the body of a man and the head of a jackal.

And the Sphinx who was modelled after a Pharaoh and had the body of a lion.

Historical Artists:
We were told to look at historical Artists such as:

Sandro Botticelli
This is Sandros Painting of Venus the Goddess of Love and Beauty, in what can only be said as how he thinks she may look and how she would be represented in a human form.

This is another painting of Sandros that involves Venus, but also includes Mars the God of war.

Titian Bacchus
Here are some examples of work involving this name.

Rucoco
Examples of this style of painting

Velazquez
Examples of said Artists work
Although not a painting BY the artist it is one of him during one of his painting sessions.

Portrait painting of the artist.

It was said that Velazquez Painted alot of smaller people a.k.a Dwarf's.

Caravaggio
This artist seemed to have more of a dark style to his paintings shown with the following examples:

As  you can see the above image are rather Dark in both colour and content.

Byzantine Art
We were told to look for and give examples of Byzantine Artwork and i am showing the following:

Most if not all of this style of work seems to be religiously based, and is something you would think to find, or can find, on the walls and windows of church's.

Giotto
We were also told to show examples of Giotto style'd art which is quite similar to Byzantine art, as they are both based around the religious side of art.

We were then told to look up different artists and give examples of their work for research.

William Blake
These are some examples of william blakes work including "Red Dragon" and "Queen"...

These are of a more detailed style of painting, and seems like a more unrealistic set, mainly due to containing thing along the lines of demons, visible souls and spirits, and devil like figures. Also with the exception of show one image, they are mainly based with dark colours to make the dark images in them, but one does also use light colours for the more 'majestic' figures such as angels and queens and spirits.
